Economists Anticipate Slower Growth and Increased Unemployment for the US in 2024
As reported by Odaily, a recent survey conducted by the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) reveals growing concerns regarding the overall economic landscape. Among the economists polled, 55% expressed that the chances of the economy underperforming are higher than those of it exceeding expectations, primarily due to the impact of Federal Reserve policies. The group’s median prediction forecasts a decline in US economic growth from an expected 2.6% this year to 1.8% in 2024. Furthermore, the unemployment rate is anticipated to rise from the current 4.2% to 4.4%, while inflation is projected to reach 2.1% next year. Notably, two-thirds of the respondents do not foresee an economic recession before 2026.
