Google Plans $1 Billion Investment in Data Center in Thailand
According to PANews, Google has unveiled its intention to invest $1 billion in the construction of a data center in Thailand. This move aligns with the trend of global technology firms enhancing their cloud and artificial intelligence capabilities in Southeast Asia. The new data centers will be situated in Bangkok and Chonburi Province, located southeast of the capital. Announced on Monday, the investment, which is backed by a Deloitte study, is expected to boost Thailand’s economy by $4 billion by 2029 and generate 14,000 jobs each year over the next five years. The announcement was made in collaboration with Thailand’s new Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, reflecting Southeast Asian governments’ initiatives to attract foreign tech investments.
