As reported by PANews, the SoftBank Vision Fund has pledged $500 million in OpenAI’s most recent funding round. Before this investment, OpenAI held a valuation of $150 billion. This also marks SoftBank’s inaugural investment in a company founded by Sam Altman. Leading the funding round is Thrive Capital, which has invested over $1 billion, alongside other contributors such as Tiger Global, Coatue Management, and Microsoft.
