Financial infrastructure company Augustus has completed a Series B funding round of $180 million at a $1 billion valuation to advance its plans for a clearing bank connecting traditional payments with stablecoins.
Tiger Global led the round, with participation from Hummingbird, QED and executives linked to Nubank, Ramp, Circle and Deel. The capital will support expansion in Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Augustus aims to provide banks and fintech firms with operating accounts, virtual accounts and transfers across Swift, ACH, SEPA and stablecoin networks. Its Marble core banking system emphasizes automation and 24/7 availability.
The company received conditional approval in May from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for Augustus National Bank. Full operations would add direct US dollar clearing capabilities to its existing European regulated entities.
Chief executive Ferdinand Dabitz highlighted the limitations of traditional correspondent banking and the potential for stablecoin integration in future clearing systems. The platform is also designed to support programmable payments for artificial intelligence-driven transactions.
Augustus processes billions in volume for institutional clients and seeks to combine fiat and blockchain rails within a unified structure for regulated institutions.
