Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren Buffett said the stock market is increasingly shaped by speculative activity rather than long-term investment strategies. The 95-year-old investor highlighted the challenge of identifying undervalued opportunities in an environment where participants favor short-term trading.

Buffett described the current market dynamics as resembling a place of worship with an attached casino. He pointed to the growth in one-day options trading as a prominent example of gambling behavior. Such trends, he noted, reduce the availability of meaningful investment prospects that require patience and discipline.

While attractive opportunities can emerge quickly at times, there are extended periods when even a single strong investment may prove difficult to uncover over several years. Buffett observed that human inclination toward gambling has led markets to allocate more resources toward encouraging speculative participation than fostering traditional investing approaches.
